Copyleft??

Copyleft is a play on the word copyright and is the practice of using copyright law to remove restrictions on distributing copies and modified versions of a work for others and requiring that the same freedoms be preserved in modified versions.

Copyleft is a form of licensing and may be used to modify copyrights for works such as computer software documents, music and art. In general, copyright law allows an author to prohibit others from reproducing, adapting, or distributing copies of the author's work. In contrast, an author may, through a copyleft licensing scheme, give every person who receives a copy of a work permission to reproduce, adapt or distribute the work as long as any resulting copies or adaptations are also bound by the same copyleft licensing scheme. A widely used and originating copyleft license is the GNU General Public License.

Freedom in software!!!

It all started with Richard Matthew Stallman starting the GNU project in 1983, to create a free Unix like operating system. With the launch of the GNU Project he started the free software movement, and in October 1985 set up the Free Software Foundation.

The Free Software Foundation (FSF) is a non-profit corporation. It mainly supports the GNU project. It also maintains many of the documents that define the free software movement, like the GNU General Public Licence (GPL).

The GNU General Public License is a free, copyleft license for software and other kinds of works.

The licenses for most software and other practical works are designed to take away your freedom to share and change the works. By contrast, the GNU General Public License is intended to guarantee your freedom to share and change all versions of a program--to make sure it remains free software for all its users.the Free Software Foundation, use the GNU General Public License for most of its software. You can apply it to your programs, too.

Swatantra!!!

Swatantra or freedom is one of the basic requirements of each and every human being. As the iconic freedom fighter of India, Balagangadhar Tilak said "Freedom is my birth right and I shall have it".

Yes it is our birth right.... But the great irony of todays world is that people are giving up their freedom by choice, and are happy with the way some beureaucrats are ruling them.

Is this right? I this the way we are supposed to live? Join me in my quest to find the truth, in my quest to find freedom.

Mahatma...

Form the days of my infancy till today the name that comes to my mind when I hear the word freedom is, the name of Bapu or Mahatma Gandhi. Although Bapu was a great man and the driving force behind India's struggle for freedom, people have failed to realize his greatness.

Its been a topic of debate that whether the path of Ahimsa, that Bapu followed in his fight against British a right choice. Well according there was no other way through which we could achieve freedom other than followng the path of non-violence (Ahimsa). No weapon can equal the strength of peace. It has been proven time and again that when everything fails non-violence is the one that prevails.

For every one out there who go on complaining about this great man I suggest that you read his autobiograpy "The Story Of My Experiments With Truth".
